{Melt in Your Mouth} Sugar Cookies

Ingredients

Cookie:

  • 1 c. butter softened
  • 1/3 c. whipping cream
  • 2 c. white flour
  • Sugar for dipping

Frosting:

  • 1/4 c. butter
  • 3/4 c. powdered sugar
  • 1 tsp almond extract
  • Food coloring

Instructions

Cookie:

  1. Mix 1 c. butter, cream (not whipped), and flour thoroughly.
  2. Roll into a cylinder, cover, and chill. (Dough will be fragile!)
  3. Heat oven to 375.
  4. Cut cylinder into 1 1/2 inch cookies.
  5. Dip each cookie in sugar on BOTH sides.
  6. Prick holes (on an ungreased cookie sheet) about 4 times and put on greased cookie sheet.
  7. Bake at 375 for 7-9 minutes, or until just set, not brown.
  8. Cool completely.

Frosting:

  1. Mix 1/4 c. butter, powdered sugar, and almond extract.
  2. Beat smooth.
  3. Add food coloring.
  4. Put cookies together and pair with frosting.
