Cinnamon Sour Cream Cake

Ingredients

Cake:

  • 1 c. butter
  • 3 c. sugar
  • 6 egg yolks
  • 1/4 tsp soda
  • 3 c. flour
  • 1 c. sour cream
  • 6 egg whites
  • 1/4 c. sugar

Sugar Mixture

  • 1/4 c. sugar
  • 1 tsp cinnamon
  • 1/4 c. chopped walnuts

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 300 degrees.
  2. Grease and flour a bundt pan
  3. Cream butter and sugar with paddle
  4. Add egg yolks (one at a time)
  5. Add flour and soda slowly, alternating between that and sour cream.
  6. Beat well - it is a THICK batter.
  7. In another bowl, beat egg whites stiff with sugar.
  8. Fold egg whites into batter
  9. Pour 1/2 to 2/3 of batter in the pan.
  10. Sprinkle half of the sugar mixture in the center.
  11. Top with remaining batter.
  12. Sprinkle with remaining sugar mixture on top.
  13. Bake for 85-90 min.
  14. Cake is done with a toothpick comes out clean. (Better underbaked than over!)
  15. Let cake sit for 10 minutes
  16. Flip over and cool on a cooling rack
