scottish shortbread recipe full not cut

  • 1/2 lb unsalted butter
  • 2 1/2 c flour sifted
  • 1/2 c. sugar
  • 1 pinch salt


  1. In a large bowl, sift the flour. 

  2. In another bowl, cream the butter and sugar

  3. Slowly add sugar to the creamed butter. 

  4. Mix well, knead with hands if necessary. 

  5. Press into a greased 12x7 1/2 inch pan. 

  6. Prick the entire pan with a fork. 

  7. Bake at 350 for 30 minutes or until light brown. 

  8. Let cool completely. 

  9. Go around the edges with a knife. 

  10. Flip shortbread onto a plate. 

  11. Bang the pan to help release the shortbread. 

  12. Cut into squares and enjoy!
