My Craft Room

It’s every girls dream to have a craft room, right? When we bought our house a few years ago, my wish was granted. My VERY own room (no other beds, dressers, etc) for MY crafts only. I was so excited to have a space to call my own that I wasn’t too picky.

Flash forward to now. The clean freak who loves organization had come out. I couldn’t focus in my “organized mess.” While I loved to work on the floor, I was running out of floor space, but couldn’t put anything ANYWHERE. I wasn’t inspired and I hated being in my room. Seriously, I dreaded it. (Oh wo is me, with my own room, right?) Don’t believe me? (HERE and HERE you go!) Yikes, right?

This mess came about when I attempted to “clean” … yikes, right?

We went to IKEA for a storage shelf and I was beyond excited – FINALLY! Some organization! I was reorganizing my room and getting a little frustrated because, even with my 16 bins of storage space, there still wasn’t enough room.

That’s when Handsome caved. He spilled the beans on my birthday present. If you know him, you know he really can’t keep a secret for long, but at the same time, he can. It’s strange, but he was more than happy to get this one off his chest and I was happy to not organize…twice. He ended up ordering some desks (specifically made for craft rooms – who knew those even existed?) – and when I say desks – I DO mean plural. TWO desks? I tried to tell him that wasn’t necessary…but I loved the look!

Here Handsome is slaving away putting these dang desks together. And the sticker on his foot? Totally unrelated, but I love it. We were going through the “reward with a sticker and jelly bean for going potty in the toilet” phase – guess who picked up a stray sticker?

Apparently my room was needing more love than I anticipated….

After MORE than enough IKEA pit stops I went about putting finishing touches on everything. I am thrilled with the results! I LOVED the thought of keeping my blogging, pictures, and computer separate from my other crafts and sewing.

My IKEA wall hangers: (of course Aerosmith and a camel made it up there – it’s my inspiration board!)

This desk, guys, is UNREAL. The storage space? I am dying here. SO ORGANIZED I could die!

Painted an ugly old clock to match my room. And the printables? Love the quote – bought it a few years ago and it still rings true. Those delicious bikes were recently found from my dear friend Aly’s Etsy shop – SO super cute.

And what about a leftover wall that needed some love? I put some shameless pictures of myself. I know, I know, I look totally egocentric, but I love these pictures. I didn’t feel right displaying them in my house for all the world to gawk at my accolades, but here, in my room and this quiet little corner? I’ll take it.

I cannot even tell you how pleased I am with this end result. PERFECT. I have a ton of room, it is organized, bright, and matching. Now, I have a hard time leaving this room – it’s terrible, but I can accomplish so much more now that this space is so fabulous!!! Plus, it’s nice to “drive past” IKEA and not GO IN every time we pass. Halle-freaking-lujah!

    1. Amber – I bet you’re better than you think! I’m terrible at decorating! You make such beautiful desserts – I have a feeling you’d be just as fabulous at decor! 😀

  1. Kaylynn – Words cannot express the level of my jealously. I have this teeny tiny IKEA desk that fits just a computer shoved in the family room. I have to do my crafts at my friends houses. It looks fantastic. Maybe I can kick my son out of his room and use that instead? Four kids in one work would be great! I will get over this jealously.

  2. LOVE IT! It looks beautiful. I recently made a trip to Ikea myself to organize all of my sewing stuff. Those expedit are the best thing to keep a room organized. 🙂

  3. I love the splashes of color all over! Bright and happy! I wish I was good at decorating! I did just buy those wall hangers for our entry way. Love your random collection of things hanging from them!
