GUYS. This one time (at band camp) my friends and I got together and danced. Not just any dance – a Justin Bieber parody on his “Sorry” video. The Sonnet James Dance off is ON!!!
I’ve entered the Sonnet James dance off before and had a blast. So when I was invited to do this video I was SO excited.
This was no slight undertaking. Have you SEEN the original video? If you haven’t, you need to remedy that situation RIGHT NOW and watch it. Those girls are BEYOND talented. Their level of skill is beyond me. No exaggeration, I probably watched it a zillion times trying to mimic their moves and I just can’t. There should be a way to watch something and instantly look like those dancers!
A girl that was on Cougarettes with me choreographed this for us and it was SO fun to be part of a dancing group again. I knew a handful of the girls already – but it was so fun to make new friends. Plus, the dancing. It was fun to be DANCING. Moral of the story? I need more dance in my life.
I was super nervous about this because when rehearsals started I had LITERALLY just had a baby. You know how you’re all jiggly after having a baby? No one wants to see that, right? Luckily, that’s what SPANX are for. Teasing…..slightly.
Basically – everyone should enter this contest. Easy peasy, right? Submit a video of you dancing (on Instagram) and the winner gets the ENTIRE SONNET JAMES LINE. Can you imagine that awesomeness? Use the hashtag #sjgotmoves and that’s it. BOOM.
After we finished filming our video, one of my sweet dancing friends brought out shirts she’d made for us. How rad? In case you can’t see the letters, it says, “More Than.” Love.
I’m so glad I got to be a part of this Sonnet James dance off video – it was so fun to dance and make new friends. Maybe someday I’ll look like the original girls dancing in Justin Bieber’s video.
