Project: living room makeover commence! This sad room was in DESPERATE need of a makeover. I knew I wanted to pull some colors in, but I wasn’t sure if it would be too much and I was literally all over the place trying to figure out what I wanted to do! (Wait a second…Kaylynn…indecisive? I don’t believe it!)
Ugh. Look at that boring brown. No life. Totally lame. Definitely missing something, right?
Not only that….we had been without a kitchen table since we’ve been married (almost 6 years…embarrassing).
One of our friends was absolutely appalled at this, “But where do you guys EAT?” Standing. At the counter. No big. Like it was so ridiculous for her to believe that we ate standing? I wish I would’ve said to her, “Well, since there’s nowhere to sit, we just don’t eat.” Next time…
Plus, we’re usually watching Pita eat in her seat at the counter, so it’s natural to just stand by her and eat our food too.
I’ll just re-emphasize. IN. NEED. OF. A. MAKEOVER! Family room makeover. Kitchen area makeover. PLEASE!
Over Spring Break I had just had enough. It was time to DO something. ANYTHING. And I am pleased to announce the new additions to the family….A kitchen table (with a blue rug)! The hunt for both of these items was exhausting, but we finally ended up with something “custom” made and finished and we are happy!
PS: I spy a Puff…
Our main room has been screaming for some color – it was just boring tones of brown. I’d been searching high and low for a fabulous pillow tutorial and was frustrated with how lame they all were. Enter Whitney, from A Mommy’s Life with a Touch of Yellow. She LITERALLY saved the day and made a tutorial for an envelope pillow.
What do you think? I love it. The colors are exactly what I wanted, the price was better than buying pre-made pillows, and there’s some pride knowing that I made those!
Plus, a huge shout out to Modern Yardage for hooking us up at SNAP. We made these cute fabric banners at our sleepover party and they fit perfectly in our new colorful room!
